Motif 50!!! (and 51, too)

Woot. I did it.

Two 25 Motif Challenges completed within a 12-month span...and with a few days to spare!

Whoo hoo!!

Motif 50!!!! (and #16 on the way to 25 by the 25th)
This is the Whirlaway Snowflake from Tatted Snowflakes. It's tatted in size 30 Cebélia, and is totally the wrong color for a snowflake, but I liked it well enough to put it on the tree anyway... :)

Also, because my husband is out for the evening and I have time on my hands, I decided to try another snowflake from the same page, the Small Loop-Stitch Snowflake:
Motif 51 (and #17 on the way to 25 by the 25th)
This does not look quite as nice as the version in the book, most likely because it hasn't been blocked or ironed (we are currently iron-less, hopefully Santa will bring me a new one), but I live in hope that a little TLC will fix it up...also, again, it's not at all the right color for a snowflake, but oh well. I live in Russia. Anything can happen in Russia. :)

  1. congrats on reaching your goals. I don't see a problem with the different colors. They look nice this way too. for some reason the small loop stitch one looks like it needs another round. he he.

  2. I really like these two and it looks like most people from really cold places like colorful snowflakes because they get sooo much of the white ones, I have not tried the top one and have seen it before and I can appreciate the bottom one, I like the threads it makes it delicate! Hey did you get my package yet? I can't wait but looks like I may have too :( or send another one.

    1. No package yet, but don't worry, it takes forever for mail to get here...it depends how it's routed, if it comes from the West Coast we get it in 2 weeks or so, but if it has to come across Russia it can take much longer...we're supposed to get mail this week, so I'll let you know if it shows! :)

  3. Well done on reaching your goal, I love the top snowflake I nearly started that last night as I brought this book a few weeks ago and have nit done any from it, so I think I must before the end of the 24 to Christmas.
You will see so many real white snowflakes why not give a little colour to the plain white.

    1. Thanks Margaret! I figured I didn't want to tat with white all December so it's been fun to play with color :)

  4. I like the darker reds (and the bluish greens). So, right color or not, it is beautiful and perfect for a Christmas decoration!

  5. Your colored snowflakes are great. Don't think I've ever ironed tatting. I pin it out and then wet it with water, or somwtimes a stiffener. Karen in OR

    1. I do both, depending on what they need and what I feel like doing...lately it's been more ironing and less blocking, mostly because I'm lazy...but now that the iron bit the dust I've had to bring back the pins and parchment paper! :)
